A lovely, characteristic studio pottery lidded box by John Maltby. This piece is named 'King and Crow' from a series of similar constructions themed around birds etc. Makers mark is found to the base with the standard 'M' with dots. Matte decoration with distressed red to the box and king and grey to the crow. Very good condition with no chips or cracks evident. There are a couple of small bumps, one to the one leg of the box, inward facing and one to the lid top. With the distressed nature of the decoration these may not be post manufacture damage.
